Smoking, strops and a video shock for Perrie Edwards – is Zayn Malik suddenly the biggest bad boy of One Direction?

It feels like in the space of just a few days he's gone from clean cut to darker-edged (and more exciting), grabbing Harry Styles' ‘The Naughty One' crown and running off with it.

First, he showed off his rebellious little blond quiff at the Olympics Closing Ceremony. Which instantly made him slightly more interesting than the other four lads, none of whom have changed their look ever (except Niall, who's buffed up a bit, obvs).

Next, Zayn, 19, dramatically deleted his Twitter account, saying: ‘I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily'.

Cue his five million followers speeding towards meltdown city, begging him to reconsider, while #comebackzayn started trending.

But this was a bit of defiant ‘f*** you' behaviour that made him cooler in my eyes - because suddenly he wasn't conforming to the usual boybander rules.

And he's also been pictured smoking. Again on the list of things not to do if you're in a teen band.

Around the same time, a mysterious video appeared on US gossip king Perez Hilton's website claiming to show Zayn in a hotel corridor inviting a girl back to his room. A girl who wasn't his 19-year-old Little Mix girlfriend Perrie Edwards.

Zayn's camp told Now they're not commenting on the video. But Zayn then seemingly elaborated to pals on social messenger Kik as to why he'd left Twitter.

‘All the rumours of me smoking weed and cheating. i dont need to read any of that negativity'.

Blimey! Drugs rumours? Cheating allegations? Smoking? In deleting his account, Zayn was dutifully following in Perrie's footsteps after she quit the site earlier this year when she received nasty messages from One Direction fans.

And the loved-up pair are still very much together, according to a source. But that wasn't the end of Zayn's rollercoaster week. Oh no.

In an even more dramatic twist, he reinstated his Twitter again within 24 hours! Crazy, eh?

One Directioners everywhere rejoiced, as Zayn posted: 'Sorry, I was getting some abuse on twitter but I dont want to let my fans down. So I am back!! :) x'

I can hardly wait to see what the little devil does next, but I'll tell you this - all this bad boy behaviour's only making him hotter!
